Distinctions and prizes
The city of Esslingen awards two prizes: the Theodor-Haecker Prize for human rights and the Landenberger Prize for ”promoting culture and traditions”. Esslingen furthermore awards the Bahnwärter Grant for literature or visual art.
Theodor-Haecker Prize
To mark the 50th anniversary of the death of the cultural critic and author Theodor Haecker, in 1995 the city of Esslingen founded this award for political bravery and sincerity. more
Landenberger Prize
Esslingen has awarded the ”Dr Fritz Landenberger Prize for Historical Research on the City of Esslingen” since 1982 as a means of honouring researchers for outstanding contributions to Esslingen’s history. more
The Bahnwärter Scholarship
Every two years since 1992, Esslingen am Neckar has awarded this scholarship in the fields of literature and visual arts. more
